Update Thursday night March 7th at 11:30 PM, Surf Video of the Pier from Feb. 27th, Friday morning March 8th, could have some glassy waves as the new swell rolls in…Surf Report Update…Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (March 07, 2013 posted)

Okay, at 3:30 PM today (Thursday), the 120 buoy had dropped to 10 feet from the swell we just had, (but stayed way offshore and never came in), and at 8 PM tonight, it has climbed to 13 feet at 13 seconds.  This is the large 4000 mile across storm, with a very large fetch….more below the video

Three surfers at the Cocoa Beach Pier, tearing up some perfect thigh to waist high Pier Perfection from Wednesday , February 27.  A couple of longboarders and a shortboarder.

Friday, I believe we will have some thigh high waves at the Pier and glassy, and rib high down south in the morning. and by late afternoon (3 or 4 PM), it will be head high in Satellite Beach, maybe bigger, but it just depends how this steep North angle slows down the swell from hitting the actual beaches.  (The winds do not go NE over night, which could keep the swell from coming in but I feel , Satellite Beach, it should hit, the Cape, may take till Saturday to come in) The winds should be NW to NNW at daybreak, in the 5 to 8 mph range until Noon.  Then the winds go North and a little NE. and back to North after a few hours.  HIGH TIDE AT 5:45 AM, WHICH IS PERFECT!  PADDLE OUT AT MID TIDE, HIGH GOING LOW WHICH IS BEST AT 9 AM, AND THE AIR TEMP WILL BE UP TO 57 -60 degrees.

Saturday, chest high at the Cape, and 1 to 3 foot overhead chop down South in Satellite Beach. Winds, NE in the 15 to mph range.

Sunday, the swell hits 9 feet at 15 seconds, so by then we should have overhead waves at the Cape, and 7 to 10 foot faces, in Satellite Beach.  The winds may be direct East Sunday, and again in the 15 to 20 mph range.

Monday, big, and onshore.

Tuesday, may go slight offshore winds for Satellite Beach, but onshore for the Cape.  But, if the storm slows down or speeds up, this may change.

Wednesday, for now, looks to be the head high and glassy day.  We will let you know later.

Monday night March 4 update 8:30 PM , Ride of the Year entry for John John Florence for Billabong XXL at Cloudbreak and Jamie O Brien paddle in at Jaws in January , Shawn Dollar at Cortes Bank, Massive NE’str with big waves still rolls in Thursday March 7th and goes thru Tuesday March 12th at least, Surf Report Update , Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (March 04, 2013 posted)

MASSIVE STORM STILL APPROACHES THE EAST COAST…More down below…

The 2013 Billabong XXL contest is on, and John John Florence has an entry for the Ride of the Year Entry, on massive wave at Cloudbreak, Fiji from June of 2012.

Jamie O Brien, Ride of the Year entry, Billabong XXL 2013, Paddle in at Jaws

Shawn Dollar from Santa Cruz, Ride of the Year entry for the 2013 Billabong XXL Awards, should definitely be the winner.  Cortes Bank, looks not only the biggest wave, but his recovery 3 or 4 times on choppy 60 foot face wave, and the water is probably the coldest anywhere, being 100 miles off the coast of California, ouch!

Thursday, March 7th, may not even come in at the Cape or Satellite Beach, the swell is a 4 or 5 foot swell but straight North, at 7 seconds.  One strange thing may happen.  The small swell leaving and the new front coming in, Thursday morning could have some off shore winds with some waist high or better size, so keep your thoughts on a dawn patrol check.  Only a freak chance of size and good wind, but worth checking 🙂

Friday, by nightime, the swell hits a long period 13 seconds in the 3 foot range, NE winds, maybe something in Satellite Beach with chest high plus drops.

Saturday, the size jumps from 3.5 feet to 6 feet at 13 seconds, so Palm Beach , Reef Road should be cranking, and we believe the swell will hit Satellite Beach pretty well by this time at night, overhead chop, but late in the day.

Sunday, we finally get something from 50 degree angle, which means a lot more than an 18 degree swell, so Sunday, looks to be 6 to 7 feet at 13 seconds, so wave faces should hit the 8 foot plus range, still choppy

Monday thru Wednesday of the next week, will probably have big waves, but to far out to tell.

Massive NE’str with big waves rolls in Friday with a start on Thursday March 7th, Surf Report Update 8:00 PM Sunday , Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (March 03, 2013 posted)

Large Northeast Swell that covers more water area than the US land, and the storm looks to have a 13 to 17 second period , and up to 6 to 8 feet of swell.   Thursday AM the swell starts to roll in, and the long period part of the swell rolls in late Friday afternoon/evening , thru Sunday, maybe thru Tuesday, as it looks right now.

Here is a video of the classic waist high swell at the Pier last Wednesday, the 27th of March.  I shot the video from around 8 to 9 AM.

I got footage of a number of surfers out, here’s 3 really nice rides that Dennis, owner of Core Surf had, on his Starr Longboard.

So, Thursday, we have 4 to 5 feet of swell at around 6 or 7 seconds.  The swell comes in from the straight North,  so we may not even have enough of the swell come into the beaches, maybe something in Satellite Beach.

Fridaythe size builds, thru the day up to 5 feet of swell and the long period, 13 to 14 seconds comes in late afternoon/evening.  Strong N/NE winds.

Saturday, the swell goes to 5 to 7 feet at 13 seconds with strong NE windsSurf size should be 6 to 10 faces then.

Sunday,  possibly much bigger, but it’s to far out now to say much 🙂

Wednesday Size still looks to be waist to chest for the Cape, maybe head high for the pier, and epic Overhead glass in Satellite Beach with light 4 to 8 mph W-WNW winds until 1 or 2 ish.

Thursday, Size looks the same and maybe a foot bigger, with winds offshore until later perhaps.  Winds maybe in the 12 to 15 mph range on Thursdday, Friday should have some leftovers with brisk offshore winds also.

Have a fantastic surf week!

WAVES FOR 5 DAYS , MAYBE!  Ground Swell rolling in, already here down south…..More on the swell, down below 🙂 WOW, They got the 120 and the 20 mile buoy working in the last couple hours! (updated comment at 9:45 PM Monday night)

The photos below are from Hurricane Sandy, in Satellite Beach, from the big day Sunday , October 28, 2012.  This was not one of the bigger sets, but it was one of the perfect formed sets for sure.  A three shot sequence, that I took with, yes, a few settings out of place on the camera.  I had to do some damage control, by dropping a “Levels” filter on it, my bad 🙂

A long period ground swell that comes from the East (not NE), has hit Fort Pierce, already in the 3.5 foot at 13 second range, and is just hitting our near shore buoy as of 6:15 PM today, (41113 buoy). The 20 and 120 mile buoy are out, so this one’s a little tricky , but since it has not hit Augustine except for jump in size from 3 to 6 feet but at 6 seconds, the ground swell has not hit them yet, but it has hit Fort Pierce, so yeah, it’s mostly an Easterly swell (as of 6 PM today) The winds are S-SE in Satellite Beach, and it looks pretty clean there, definitely bigger than waist high.

Tuesday, the swell is here for sure, with strong South winds in the 15 to 20 mph range, waist high plus at the Cape, and chest high range in Satellite Beach.  Early morning, could be clean, semi-glass in Satellite Beach when the winds are in the 10 to 15 mph South range.  Choppy at the Cape.  BUT!!!!!!!  Tuesday afternoon, along with the 30 to 50% showers, we could have SW winds here at the Cape an hour or two before dark between say 4 and 7 PM, so we have a chance of waist to rib and glassy, just before dark!

Wednesday, waist to rib at the Cape with bigger sets, and W to WNW winds in the 10 to 15 mph range. Satellite Beach should see chest to shoulder high waves, with a few head high rogue sets 🙂

Thursday, a new swell piggybacks the outgoing one, it starts rolling in Wednesday late, and we should see the same size as Wednesday for the Cape and Satellite.  The swell drops off by late afternoon Thursday, but should hang around with something thru Saturday, in the thigh to rib high range, with brisk offshore winds over 15 mph, for Thursday thru maybe Saturday.

February 10 update, plus Hurricane Sandy from big Sunday in Satellite Beach and Pure Ocean TV 2012 Photo review of Awesome Nature, Surf Report Update for Friday February 08 2013, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (February 08, 2013 posted)

Monday morning, South winds, and chest high and semi-glassy down south.  The Cape, with South winds, will be sideshore and half the size.  Tuesday, will be waist high down south and glassy, and thigh high maybe at the Cape and semi glassy .

Everything below, re surf report was done Friday night, the above was a Sunday night 10:30 PM update.

Wind swell with a little size coming in Saturday night.  Today we had some knee to maybe thigh glass down south.  Sunday, it will be low period 6 or 7 second, meaning no long line, strong onshores, but it will be something to drop in on. Could see some waist to rib  high at the Cape and shoulder high down south. Monday , more of the same, and Tuesday, a chance of morning glass, if you go down south.  Water temp is 69, so it’s skinnable, if you have scales 🙂

Hurricane Sandy was rolling in 10 to 14 foot plus face sets Sunday morning, in Satellite Beach.  I shot this footage (apologies, but this was the first long distance footage, I have shot, and shooting into mostly the sun 😦  )   Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it! Oldwaverider

Pure Ocean TV, who provided a couple of videos I’ve posted here, one, the awesome 10 to 14 foot face waves video of “Frankenstorm”, Hurricane Sandy;  well they provided this awesome still image video clip of photos that they took over 2012.

It is some really nice, really nice nature shots, and some great music to go along with it.  If you like it, make sure and like it.  They do awesome work!

January 18 update, plus Hurricane Sandy Video of Johnson Avenue from October 27 2012 Saturday, Surf Report Update for Friday January 18 2012, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (January 18, 2012 posted)

HURRICANE SANDY VIDEO OF JOHNSON AVENUE SURFERS ON SATURDAY.

January 18 update…After being in hibernation, a Surf Report update for Friday, Saturday and Sunday  below…

The video I shot Saturday morning after I had my session, it was the first sizeable and semi-glassy day of Hurricane Sandy.  Winds were up to 35-40 mph NNW, so it made for an interesting drop in no doubt 🙂

Sunny, Chuck and a couple unknown surfers out.

Today, Friday January 18, a big NE windswell, not quite a ground swell will be moving in all day, maybe waist high at noon,  but it should be head high by dark, with 25 plus mph NE winds.

Saturday, the winds back down to maybe 15 to 20 mph, NNE to NE, with size in the chest to head high at the Cape, and Overhead down south in Satellite Beach.

Sunday morning looks to be Rib to Head high , North to South, with North winds at daybreak, so a good chance of some NNW winds until 9 or 10 is possible.  Either way, with 8 mph N winds, conditions should be clean and fun.

Have a Great Weekend!

Video of a 10 to 12 foot overhead barrell from South Beach, Miami and Hurricane Sandy, posted November 26 2012

A sick 15 second video of a 10 to 12 foot overhead tow-in barrel from Hurricane Sandy.  (he never dropped to the bottom third of the wave so it may be bigger 🙂

He actually gets barreled twice.
