SURF DELAYED….duh

Okay, so at least our waves hit Saturday morning 🙂

We should expect waist high waves at daybreak for the Cape with 5 to 10 mph ENE winds in the morning for Saturday, and chest high down south.  The size builds a little throughout the day with winds only increasing to around 15 mph.  It should close the day with rib high at the Cape and chest to shoulder high in Satellite Beach.

Sunday, it loses steam or power at daybreak with the swell dropping in period to 6 or 8 second period, but it should be maybe chest high at the Cape in the AM and head high down south.  But by dark it will be pushing maybe double overhead in Satellite Beach with NE winds over 20 mph, ouch.

Monday, huge also, probably double overhead and winds onshore over 30 mph down south, so the smaller chop will be a gift here at the Cape.  The swell drops in size all day Monday, but will stay overhead till dark for sure.

Tuesday,  down South or Playalinda are the place to berib to chest high, with strong south winds, so the drive to Playalinda would be worth it.  South winds are 32 degrees offshore at Playalinda.

Wednesday, starts out with leftover Issac, and builds thru the day with the push from Depression Joyce.  Wednesday, ought to be waist high and glassy with strong offshore winds, and should pick up to chest high down south and getting glassier all day.

Yeah, I am stretching it trying to call this far out, but I feel comfortable with the calls 🙂

THURSDAY September 1st,  is the 26th Annual NKF Pro AM Surf Festival which has always been run by Rich Salick, who died this past July.  So be sure, to help his awesome event live on, the Fest starts Thursday and runs thru Sunday, with surfing competition for all ages, boards and genders 🙂  Saturday will be a real fun day at the Pier with all the Food, Vendors, Drinks and more, so check it all out!

Have a great Surf weekend, and enjoy some big chop.  It’ll put hair on your chest.  (well for guys anyhow)

Big Swell video from Pascuales, Mexico, plus Tuesday afternoon surf report update 3:30 PM August 14 2012, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (August 11, 2012 posted)

Surf coming, I believe, a nice possible bump for Wednesday morning…more in a sec

CHECK THIS AWESOME VIDEO THAT JUST PUMPED IN PASCUALES, MEXICO , RIGHT AFTER THE MASSIVE ESCONDIDO SWELL! You know my addiction with big wave (though this is only 10 to 15 foot, but, it’s still pumping)  If you’re impatient, move the scrub bar up to 1 min 12 seconds to get to the surf 🙂

Wednesday morning should have a thigh to waist high bump, at about a ground swell, with offshore winds in the morning, starting at SW after midnight and turning to WSW by around Noon.  About 9 AM is mid-tide , with high going low, which is our best scenario, high going low.

If I’m wrong, then post a comment, and I will accept my egg 🙂

Saturday night surf report update 11 PM August 11 2012, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (August 11, 2012 posted)

Sunday morning, looks like it should have some thigh high sets here at the Cape and waist high  down south in Satellite Beach.

The winds are looking mostly SW , by Midnight tonight, up to maybe 8 mph.  So maybe they won’t blow the small swell flat.  I will go with about a 70% chance for us to get these waves.  As long as the 120 buoy stays South winds or SSE, then the small ground swell should roll in.  I’ll be in bed before I can check the first real hit to the 120, though it did climb from 3 foot at 5 and 6 seconds  on the swell period, on up to 3 foot at 8, and just now 2.6 foot at 8.

When it hits 10 seconds out there with a slight onshore wind to bring it in, then we should have our swell.
If I wake at 3 AM, I’ll take a look 🙂

Say a prayer,

Sunday, August 05, 2012, 8:00 AM Visual Mini-Cam Surf Report Cape Canaveral

Our visual MIni-Cam report at 8:05 am, 1 to 3 foot faces, rideable, better at the Pier, and I would guess 2 foot bigger on the face down south in Satellite Beach.  If I didn’t have things to do, I would be out 🙂

We do have a few waves coming, a windswell that may blow in Saturday, very low period swell, so it may be some waist to chest high chop, and Monday night, maybe a swell…more in a sec

It wasn’t quite breaking at Johnson Ave today (Friday 8/3/2012), and I wasn’t quite ready to start work, so I took a drive down to Satellite Beach, at about 1 to 2 hours after high tide, like 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and took some surf photos of some fun looking 1 to 2.678 foot waves, fairly glassy, only 2 or 3 or 4 people out.  And a few other miscellaneous photos, …

We may have a wind swell blow in Saturday sometime to bring us some waist to chest chop until maybe Sunday or so, but it is a low period wind chop, so hard to tell if it will be rideable or not.  But, it’s a shot at something, so get excited.

Monday night, we may have a 1 to 1.5 day small ground swell to hit for the evening and for Tuesday morning, in the waist to chest high range. Sunday night and Monday night we’ll update the winds to see if Tuesday looks like it could be a really fun day, or just a day 🙂

These photos my buddy Mike took of me while he and Steve shouted In-sensitive comments to me down below as I attempted to grab a few waves as a Senior Citizen amongst the younger crowds 🙂

Pretty fun session for sure, from Saturday night the 14th of July 2012.

Tuesday looks to be Waist to Chest high going from the Cape to Satellite Beach.  Winds start blowing South by Midnight it looks, which is offshore about 8 or 10 degrees in Satellite Beach, but onshore here at the Cape.  But by daybreak, it turns SSW around 5 to 8 mph, and I bet we get an hour of SW winds, so the Cape should be clean and fun, and down South , glassy and chest high.

Tuesday looks like the best size and glassy day! and Stephanie Gilmore wins 5th Title!, Sunday night 7 PM surf report update, Surf Forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (July 22, 2012 posted)

Tuesday is looking like the day! Like maybe chest high and glassy 🙂 …………….more down below….

In case y’all didn’t see, Stephanie Gilmore from Australia, just won her event at the Roxy Pro Biarritz in France, and her 5th World Title!  Nice video here:

The swell rolls in it’s peak size tonight, with some medium onshore winds for Monday morning, maybe as low as 8 to 10 mph, but it should pick up a little in speed thru the day Monday.  Should be some rib to chest high waves on Monday with 10 to 15 mph onshore winds.

Tuesday morning, we should have some Waist to Chest high waves from the Cape to Satellite Beach respectively 🙂  Winds look to turn SSW by mid-morning, as the Weather shows right now, but Monday night will give ya a more accurate wind update.

Wednesday morning should have some fun leftovers, with a shot at offshore winds, and then late in the day Wednesday, a small ground swell is showing on the charts, but I have my doubts that it will actually make it closer than 20 or 30 miles from the shore, but we’ll see.

Enjoy!  have a great week.

Video of Chad and Luke surfing a semi-epic chest high plus swell in Satellite Beach on July 16,2012, Monday night 9 PM surf report update, Surf Forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (July 17, 2012 posted)

CHAD SURFING VIDEO, WITH LUKE FROM JACKSONVILLE

We had to drive South after checking out the end of the street.  I mean, come on, how often do we get a solid chest high plus ground swell in the summer in Florida?  🙂 , Don’t get me wrong, J-Ave looked fun, but if we were gonna film a ground swell we might as well film it a couple feet bigger on the face so………………………we headed down to Satellite Beach to my favorite break, we did paddle out late 😦

But we pulled up at 8:45 AM, offshore SW winds 5 mph, a ground swell rated at 3.5 feet at 10 seconds, and we could see plenty of chest high waves (shoulders) with quite a few shoulder high sets.

It was time for a double take,  what!!!!!!,  NO ONE OUT!  So what does any normal person do, they hurry out before the winds change.  What a great session, yeah 90% closeouts, so that just meant, you let 8 waves pass you by, and take one close-out for the insane bottom turn and kick-out, and hope the next one will give ya a 100 yard ride or more.  But, I confess, there was only a couple of those which is rare under these conditions, but the plentiful 50 to 75 yard plus rides with quick walls made for a great session and day.  I only surfed one hour, and then came in to start filming, by then the winds switched out of the South, but still had really clean semi-glass conditions.

Surf Update……….We should have some knee to waist high waves for then next few days Wed thru Friday maybe, with an offshore breeze for a couple hours.  This Low Pressure system is kind enough to linger so enjoy it while it lasts 🙂

Hope you enjoy the video, and the surfing  by Chad and Luke.

Dr John 1 to 2 foot surfing and a day at the beach on Johnson Avenue video, Sunday afternoon 1 PM surf report update, Surf Forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (July 15, 2012 posted)

DR JOHN SURF AND A DAY AT THE BEACH ON JOHNSON AVENUE VIDEO

SUNDAY NIGHT UPDATE FOR MONDAY MORNING!!!

Still looks like glass, nice lines, however the size I will downgrade as of 10:00 PM tonight (Sunday).  I am calling thigh to waist high glass at the Cape, and waist to rib high down South, with 4 to 7 mph SSW winds.  So it should be glassy South of Minuteman causeway, and semi-glass North of it.  But………..the winds will probably turn SW for an hour or two, which means glass for everyone, but we will see.  If it stays light SSW, it will be fun everywhere. Either way,  have fun an enjoy the Summer Swell!

Dr. John I caught a few rides, one nice 10 second plus ride, but I confess, shooting into the sun and other things I have to learn yet 🙂

I did get a collage of people in the film, a Skate-Kite Boarder, Para-Sailing, Runners, a Bi-Plane and a little bit of everything.  The smooth jazz piece to go along with it, kept me within my legal boundaries for copyright complainers 🙂

The ground swell actually just started to hit the 120 mile buoy at 11 AM this morning, so it was definitely delayed by a good 6 hours maybe.  So the surf we saw this morning, even though it showed 3.5 feet at 9 seconds on Seaweed (the 20 mile buoy is down, so it’s real hard to tell),  but my guess is it was 2 foot at 8 seconds.

I do believe that we will have solid waist to rib lines at the Cape Monday morning, and chest high or better in Satellite BeachThe winds are showing South to SSW for daybreak until 11 ish, in the 4 to 6 mph range.  I suspect that they will turn SW for an hour or two, but don’t wait until 10 AM to paddle out. High tide will be going low which is perfect around 6:10 AM, so an 8 or 9 AM paddle out should be the best time.

Tuesday appears to have some size leftovers with a slight drop, probably thigh to chest, North to South, and also offshore winds.

Get it while it Rocks!

Hope you enjoy the video, I have a lot to learn 🙂
