Massive NE’str with big waves rolls in Friday with a start on Thursday March 7th, Surf Report Update 8:00 PM Sunday , Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (March 03, 2013 posted)

Large Northeast Swell that covers more water area than the US land, and the storm looks to have a 13 to 17 second period , and up to 6 to 8 feet of swell.   Thursday AM the swell starts to roll in, and the long period part of the swell rolls in late Friday afternoon/evening , thru Sunday, maybe thru Tuesday, as it looks right now.

Here is a video of the classic waist high swell at the Pier last Wednesday, the 27th of March.  I shot the video from around 8 to 9 AM.

I got footage of a number of surfers out, here’s 3 really nice rides that Dennis, owner of Core Surf had, on his Starr Longboard.

So, Thursday, we have 4 to 5 feet of swell at around 6 or 7 seconds.  The swell comes in from the straight North,  so we may not even have enough of the swell come into the beaches, maybe something in Satellite Beach.

Fridaythe size builds, thru the day up to 5 feet of swell and the long period, 13 to 14 seconds comes in late afternoon/evening.  Strong N/NE winds.

Saturday, the swell goes to 5 to 7 feet at 13 seconds with strong NE windsSurf size should be 6 to 10 faces then.

Sunday,  possibly much bigger, but it’s to far out now to say much 🙂

Thursday, Size looks the same and maybe a foot bigger, with winds offshore until later perhaps.  Winds maybe in the 12 to 15 mph range on Thursdday, Friday should have some leftovers with brisk offshore winds also.

Have a fantastic surf week!

Monday Feb. 25 6:15 PM, Surf Report Update , plus Hurricane Sandy surf photos, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (February 25, 2013 posted)

WAVES FOR 5 DAYS , MAYBE!  Ground Swell rolling in, already here down south…..More on the swell, down below 🙂 WOW, They got the 120 and the 20 mile buoy working in the last couple hours! (updated comment at 9:45 PM Monday night)

The photos below are from Hurricane Sandy, in Satellite Beach, from the big day Sunday , October 28, 2012.  This was not one of the bigger sets, but it was one of the perfect formed sets for sure.  A three shot sequence, that I took with, yes, a few settings out of place on the camera.  I had to do some damage control, by dropping a “Levels” filter on it, my bad 🙂

A long period ground swell that comes from the East (not NE), has hit Fort Pierce, already in the 3.5 foot at 13 second range, and is just hitting our near shore buoy as of 6:15 PM today, (41113 buoy). The 20 and 120 mile buoy are out, so this one’s a little tricky , but since it has not hit Augustine except for jump in size from 3 to 6 feet but at 6 seconds, the ground swell has not hit them yet, but it has hit Fort Pierce, so yeah, it’s mostly an Easterly swell (as of 6 PM today) The winds are S-SE in Satellite Beach, and it looks pretty clean there, definitely bigger than waist high.

Tuesday, the swell is here for sure, with strong South winds in the 15 to 20 mph range, waist high plus at the Cape, and chest high range in Satellite Beach.  Early morning, could be clean, semi-glass in Satellite Beach when the winds are in the 10 to 15 mph South range.  Choppy at the Cape.  BUT!!!!!!!  Tuesday afternoon, along with the 30 to 50% showers, we could have SW winds here at the Cape an hour or two before dark between say 4 and 7 PM, so we have a chance of waist to rib and glassy, just before dark!

Wednesday, waist to rib at the Cape with bigger sets, and W to WNW winds in the 10 to 15 mph range. Satellite Beach should see chest to shoulder high waves, with a few head high rogue sets 🙂

Thursday, a new swell piggybacks the outgoing one, it starts rolling in Wednesday late, and we should see the same size as Wednesday for the Cape and Satellite.  The swell drops off by late afternoon Thursday, but should hang around with something thru Saturday, in the thigh to rib high range, with brisk offshore winds over 15 mph, for Thursday thru maybe Saturday.

February 10 update, plus Hurricane Sandy from big Sunday in Satellite Beach and Pure Ocean TV 2012 Photo review of Awesome Nature, Surf Report Update for Friday February 08 2013, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (February 08, 2013 posted)

Monday morning, South winds, and chest high and semi-glassy down south.  The Cape, with South winds, will be sideshore and half the size.  Tuesday, will be waist high down south and glassy, and thigh high maybe at the Cape and semi glassy .

Everything below, re surf report was done Friday night, the above was a Sunday night 10:30 PM update.

Wind swell with a little size coming in Saturday night.  Today we had some knee to maybe thigh glass down south.  Sunday, it will be low period 6 or 7 second, meaning no long line, strong onshores, but it will be something to drop in on. Could see some waist to rib  high at the Cape and shoulder high down south. Monday , more of the same, and Tuesday, a chance of morning glass, if you go down south.  Water temp is 69, so it’s skinnable, if you have scales 🙂

Hurricane Sandy was rolling in 10 to 14 foot plus face sets Sunday morning, in Satellite Beach.  I shot this footage (apologies, but this was the first long distance footage, I have shot, and shooting into mostly the sun 😦  )   Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it! Oldwaverider

Pure Ocean TV, who provided a couple of videos I’ve posted here, one, the awesome 10 to 14 foot face waves video of “Frankenstorm”, Hurricane Sandy;  well they provided this awesome still image video clip of photos that they took over 2012.

It is some really nice, really nice nature shots, and some great music to go along with it.  If you like it, make sure and like it.  They do awesome work!

January 18 update, plus Hurricane Sandy Video of Johnson Avenue from October 27 2012 Saturday, Surf Report Update for Friday January 18 2012, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (January 18, 2012 posted)

HURRICANE SANDY VIDEO OF JOHNSON AVENUE SURFERS ON SATURDAY.

January 18 update…After being in hibernation, a Surf Report update for Friday, Saturday and Sunday  below…

The video I shot Saturday morning after I had my session, it was the first sizeable and semi-glassy day of Hurricane Sandy.  Winds were up to 35-40 mph NNW, so it made for an interesting drop in no doubt 🙂

Sunny, Chuck and a couple unknown surfers out.

Today, Friday January 18, a big NE windswell, not quite a ground swell will be moving in all day, maybe waist high at noon,  but it should be head high by dark, with 25 plus mph NE winds.

Saturday, the winds back down to maybe 15 to 20 mph, NNE to NE, with size in the chest to head high at the Cape, and Overhead down south in Satellite Beach.

Sunday morning looks to be Rib to Head high , North to South, with North winds at daybreak, so a good chance of some NNW winds until 9 or 10 is possible.  Either way, with 8 mph N winds, conditions should be clean and fun.

Have a Great Weekend!

Chad’s epic 200 yard, 18 second, 1 to 2 foot overhead drop ride, Saturday November 24 2012, Satellite Beach, Saturday afternoon Surf Report Update 11/24/12 4:15 PM, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (November 24, 2012 posted)

CHAD’s 18 SECOND RIDE,  SURFING VIDEO, 1 TO 2 FOOT OVERHEAD FACE…(Be sure to click “Full Screen” below on You Tube settings and also click 720 HD on quality)

We caught a spectacular, session with Shoulder to 2 foot plus overhead faces in Satellite Beach or Hangers.

I got some amazing rides by brother Chad, but this 2 foot overhead face, provided Chad an 18 second, 200 yard ride of perfection 🙂

This was the perfect, session, with waves that had power that kept your drop-ins, high, but wipeouts without headaches, go figure ,

Surf for Sunday should be waist high at the Cape, and Chest high in Satellite Beach, with 4 to 6 mph NW winds until 10 AMish, and then they go NNW around 6 until 1 or 2, maybe later.

Monday should also have some small but fun leftovers.

Friday morning surf update, (done Thanksgiving Night at 7 PM) Thanksgiving Morning surf, surprise NW winds, 20 ish, turning NNW

FRIDAY MORNING SURF, may be slower NNW winds in the 8 to 12 mph range here at the Cape.  Size should be chest to shoulder high with bigger sets, and 1 to 4 foot overhead sets in Satellilte Beach.
SATURDAY IS STILL THE BIG GLASS DAY!

Textured glass today, and chest to head high, and overhead down south.  Winds are still NW, but turn NNW for most of the day, in the 15 to 25 mph range.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING,  Saturday still looks like the epic Glass Day and chest to head high!  Friday, big and clean with winds probably like today.

And dont’ forgot, HE’S WATCHING YOU!

Monday and Tuesday looking glassy but moderate winds, drop in size Monday, but bigger down south. Sunday night Surf Report Update 11/18/12 9:15 PM, Surf forecast for Cape Canaveral , Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach (November 18, 2012 posted)

Why all the waves? The East/NE swell we have had, isn’t fully leaving before a new Big E/NE Swell starts moving in, really hits Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. The rest of the surf report update is below the photos.

The photos here are more from Hurricane Sandy, Satellite Beach.  I took them around 2 PM, after I had my session.  The 2nd guy here was nice enough to pull out of the wave.  A solid 12 foot face on the drop for the guy, but it tapered off in size pretty quick.

Perfect 12 foot face drop, and yeah, the other guy pulled out, the size did trail off pretty quick after the drop, but a beautiful ride and wave no doubt. Image 1 of 3 in sequence, photos by Oldwaverider

Hurricane Sandy, Hightowers Park in Satellite Beach. Image 2 of 3. Took photos about 2 PM after I had my session :)

The size peaks probably Thursday afternoon to Friday, but the power of the swell really hits Friday and Saturday.

Monday, Chest high down South, we may have some waist high at the Cape, but it may not roll in for us until late Tuesday or Wednesday before we see chest high plus at the CapeWinds should be NW in the 8 to 12 mph range, so it should be glassy everywhere, and I bet a few shoulder to head high drops in Satellite Beach with glass.

Tuesday , waist to shoulder high (for down South), with NW winds in the morning, but a little stiffer winds for Tuesday morning, but NW nonetheless.  My guess, 10 to 15 mph NW winds.

Wednesday, chest to shoulder.

Thursday , shoulder to overhead (down south).  Dancing Thanksgiving TurkeyWe could have some early morning, semi-glass up North here for a wonderful Thanksgiving day session.

Friday shoulder to overhead down south

Saturday shoulder to overhead, and Saturday, we could see the winds die down enough, and maybe get a glassy day from it.
