Today was none other than epic in Satellite Beach!  8 foot to double overhead faces, I have lots of Video footage.  Some Awesome talent out there today 🙂

Surf update, below video!  It was amazing the difference today between the Pier which was rib high this morning at 6:45, and in Satellite Beach it was 10 foot plus faces at 7:15, turning double overhead by 9 or 10 AM

Friday, should be chest high plus at the Cape or Pier, and probably 1 to 2 foot overhead plus in Satellite Beach.  The winds are looking NNW in the 8 to 15 mph range, so surfing North of 4rth street North is your best bet.  NNW is onshore in Satellite Beach.  Still, should be fun waves!

Saturday should be chest to shoulder high, North going South respectively with more direct offshore winds 🙂

What should Thursday bring?  See the Video of the 2nd big day (smaller than the day before), of the big Nor-easter we had December 11th, in Satellite Beach down below!

The models show 7-7.5 feet at 13 seconds which means, 8 to 12 foot faces, possibly plus, in Satellite Beach.  If the winds are low, as Weather.com says they should be at daybreak, then the swell should fully come in.  If they are hard offshore, then as we saw the delay with Gonzalo and a few other swells, they can take an extra day to come in, or get blown apart a bit.

Wednesday will have some size kicking in with some very strong NNW winds switching North as the size builds thru the day, but I shall wait for Thursday, when it’s 48 in the morning, LOL 🙂

Thursday morning should be 6-8 foot faces at the Pier with bigger sets, and 8-12 foot faces in Satellite Beach with bigger sets.  Winds show offshore, West winds around 4-6 mph, and increasing all day, up to 20 plus mph, so get out early! (4rth day of the models have said this, and when the models hold up for 3 or 4 days, they usually materialize)

Friday looks like strong North winds, still huge, and maybe blowing offshore NNW to NW later in the day.

Saturday looks rib to chest high and offshore and lots of fun.

The video below is from the 2nd biggest day of the 7 day Northeast swell we had the 1st and 2nd week of December.  This video was shot 12/11/2014, around 10 Am to 12 Pm.  The soundtrack is from a band called “Guerrilla Jazz”, from Maui, Hawaii.  The song is called “One Day We’ll Be Gone”. Billy Kemper, a big wave surfer in Hawaii, has a cousin or relative in the band.  Four or so years ago, this video below mine, was done with Laird Hamilton mentoring Billy, along with Ian Walsh.

We have a quick powerful ground swell coming in for Sunday morning/day, and for two days running, the models show south winds, which is slight offshore for South CCB to the Inlet.

Sunday morning it could be chest to shoulder high plus and clean/semi-glass conditions.  Low tide around 6:30 AM

Get excited!  That’s a lot more than the knee high stuff we’ve had since the big NE’ster 🙂

Saturday Morning and Hurricane Gonzalo was so Epic at day break, when most of the Walls were peeling fast but makeable.  Saturday, October 18 2014 that is.  Not until 9:30 Am or so, did it be come more challenging to choose a wave 🙂  The video below is the second and probably last long one from Gonzalo.  I shot about 250 clips that day, 150 in Satellite and 100 at the Pier. (Note: the video is still uploading at YouTube and should be done by 1:30 PM or before)


Those of you that were there at our Awesome Rock Break in Satellite Beach, know who you are, and where this was shot.  Thanks for all your great surfing, and footage for me to devour!

And I would like to note, that the biggest wall/wave that came in, was caught by a young lady, and she made the most perfect drop (the wave was peeling fast, but perfect), and I may slow motion that clip by itself, to upload to Magicseaweed.com at the Satellite Beach location, where I have most of my photos and videos posted.

So I had to toss a couple barrels in here in kind of a slow motion (yeah I did take two from last video),  just to show the insides of the barrel, and this one guy with an excellent off the lip on an Epic wave in form and size.

There were quite a few 10 foot faces to show that morning, though the common sets were 6-8 foot faces.  The video is about 4 minutes long, and I did it in 1080P, cause the 720P version annoyed me, LOL 🙂

When we first got to RC’s North at 7:15-7:30, the lines were epic!  I had to earnestly look for a closeout.  After my 2 hours, yes, the closeouts began.  When I started to shoot footage;  but there were still plenty of Waves holding up still from 10 – 12 PM!

(NOTE: To see the best quality, click two of the lower right YouTube icons on the controls.  Click the gear and choose at least 720P or if u have great bandwidth go for 1080P.  Also choose the “Full Screen” icon on the far right, and then start the video over so the quality kicks in.  YouTube defaults at 360P and I can’t blame them!  Turn your volume up too for the Music)

The crowds were nill, yeah, the paddle out and the sets looked intimidating (for Florida, LOL),  but when you see perfect 6-9 foot faces , with a 10 foot face thrown in every 15 minutes or so, heading back North to Cocoa Beach and the Cape did not seem like an option 🙂

Today, we have waist to chest high plus with winds SW at 2nd light wind monitor at the base, and that was around 6 at 8:30 AM, which already changed from WNW.  Get out while you can!

Great Hurricane;  though I do hope and pray Bermuda came out okay …

Sunday afternoon late, we should see some of the swell rolling in with waist high waves.  The Groundswell/Windswell model, appears to build from Sunday thru Wednesday, peaking in the 5 to 8 foot range.  Thursday, if the storm holds together, could be the big glassy day with overhead waves and offshore winds in the morning.  The video below is of Hurricane Bertha in Cocoa Beach, 4rth street, from August 5 2014, shot around 10 AM that Tuesday morning. (it is still processing at YouTube, so by 7 PM or before, it should be ready)

For now, expect Sunday to have something around waist high late afternoon.  Monday builds all day with probably some head high faces before dinner time.  Onshore winds.  Tuesday more of the same, but building.

Wednesday, could be the crazy day, anywhere from Overhead to 3 foot overhead with onshore winds.  The fetch (diameter of the storm), is not that large, maybe 500-700 miles, and it cruises from a hug the Bahamas on the East side very close, parallels the coast, and if it holds together, as it passes Brevard by a 100 miles or so, we could have epic overhead waves with brisk offshore winds Thursday morning, or whenever the storm passes by and holds together of course.

Get excited folks, get some exercise, sunscreen and make sure your boards are prepped!

A Small Southeast swell is rolling in, during the day Friday and will be here through Saturday.  We could have some knee to waist high waves with offshore winds both mornings.

The video below is an unknown surfer at 4rth street in Cocoa Beach on Tuesday.  I hope to have a 2 to 4 minute video of Big Tuesday in the next week.  Wednesday had some waist high plus waves too, at O Club and south, however, no video from Wednesday.

Is Bertha going to give us Size and Perfection tomorrow morning?

Well, we should see Chest high plus sets Tuesday morning, with offshore winds in the 8-12 mph WSW direction until after 1 or 2, then SW.  High tide is 2:36 am, CCB and the Cape.

The swell just hit the 120 mile buoy at 3.9 feet at 13 seconds at 4:50 PM Monday , well today 🙂  It should take around 6-7 hours to hit the beaches.  At 13 seconds, it should travel around 20 mph toward the beach.  11 seconds travels around 17 mph, so yeah, I interpolated 🙂

Today, Saturday, at 12:30 when I checked, the Waves are still looking fun in the thigh to stomach high  (down south), even with the winds playing variable with the small weather storm activity.  It is bigger down south, but our 30 minute after high tide window that started at J-Ave around 11:20 looked real fun, well, until a 1/4 mile pipe dredging removal , total swell block activity happened , interesting to look at though.

Anyhow, the swell shrinks all day, but should have some glass for another hour or so depending on the winds mind for the moment.
